Have you spent the last 5 years of your life pretending to be the opposite gender in Second Life? Do you worm your way out of using a webcam and declare in your profile that you don’t believe in voice? Then fear no more – voice morphing is here!
This is quite possibly the stupidest “feature” I’ve seen come to Second Life, and I can’t see how it progresses the virtual world at all. And I’ve no idea who all these people that Linden Lab are claiming wanted this feature are, but I imagine they are spending far too much time with their right hand.
Nevertheless, it definitely has that ’5 minute novelty value’ where it amuses you for a bit, and then you concede that you’ll never again trust the gender of anybody you meet in SL again.
Although, to be honest, the voice morphing doesn’t work that great on turning my gruff, English accented voice into a girl’s.
Okay, novelty’s worn off now. Back to business.

Like there isn’t already a witch hunt for male with female avatars and vice versa in Second Life. LL just has to add more fuel to the fire by giving people even more reason to bully people into revealing their RL gender. Now these witch hunters won’t be satisfied until they invade your privacy even more by demanding you to cam for them or demand RL pics to gender check. I personally could care less what the RL gender of the person behind the avatar is. But to soothe fragile securities people are going to be even more invasive in their attempts to gender check people if they can’t verify gender by voice anymore.

Actually the “Buzz” morph sounded convincing to me.

I think if I didn’t know about voice morphing, I could be convinced that the “Buzz” and “Flirty” morphs were in fact women. As a person who enjoys voice chatting on SL, can’t say I like this feature.
