I don’t like using the SL classifieds. Advertising, although necessary, tends to lead to lots of people IMing you to offer you mall space, marketing services, and once I even got asked if I’d sell the sim I was selling my wares on. Apparently, he figured that if I was advertising to sell stock, I must be up for selling the sim.. ummm, no thanks.
I’m waiting for the day when debt consolidation and penis enlargement advertisers stumble upon Second Life – that should be great fun. I already note the Personals section is starting to fill up with “Webcam girls fun”, which again is pretty sad.
I wonder if anyone has actually had a penis enlargement from spam email? It must be the most pointless type of spam there is..
Anyways, I’m looking at other ways to expand the PR of Amodica, that compliments Classifieds, to the point where we won’t need to use them anymore. I’ve met a lot of SL bloggers and magazine editors over recent month, which has helped a lot, and developing a personal profile has helped with the company too. There’s a lot to be said for letting your work speak for itself, rather than having to talk it up.
Advertising and creating a credible brand in Second Life is in no way easy, and we’re using a large variety of marketing techniques to promote Amodica, but I think it’s starting to finally pay dividends.
But heck, we’re not even close to where we want to be.

What’s funny is when your mom gets a penis enlargement spam mail and doesn’t completely understand why anyone would actually do that and so she calls you over to explain it to her and all you can say is, “maaaa, just hit the damn delete key!”

I find it amusing that I get the spam for penis enlargement while my husband gets the spam for ‘breast enhancements.’ I’ve yet to figure out the logic for that one.
